France, as one of the most important international players of the global food industry, has a state-of-the-art expertise in food processing. In this regard, France is the number 5 exporter in the world for food processing equipment, with exports representing 700 million USD. French expertise is particularly recognized in the dairy, meat and bakery industries, as well as in technologies related to food packaging, sterilization and extrusion.
A special focus on cold chain has been put in place by France in India. In April 2013, an Indo-French agreement was signed in this field in order to develop cooperation in the cold chain expertise between the CEMAFROID (Cold Chain expertise Centre in France) and the National Centre for Cold Chain Development (NCCD) in India. After signing this Memorandum of Understanding, France is keen to contribute more closely to the needs of the cold chain industry in India.
